Our MissionPanhandle Rural Transit District is committed to providing as much transportation service to the rural areas as possible. Panhandle is currently reaching out to service other organization in an effort to provide the best service and schedules than can be provided.
Company ProfilePanhandle Community Services started Panhandle Transit because of the lack of transportation available to the rural citizens in the top of the Texas Panhandle. Panhandle Transit currently works with organizations and elected officials to provide service where it is most needed. Panhandle currently covers the largest geographical area for a rural transit district. Panhandle Transit has been described as the "Best kept Secret" in the panhandle. Others have described us as their only method to get to work or even to go shopping. Panhandle Transit success has come because of the dedicated employees and the support of the service expressed by the communities and elected officials. Without the community support this company could not have provided this level of service. Panhandle Transit is always looking for ways to partner with other organizations to provide more quality service.

Panhandle
Rural Transit District is providing rural transportation to the 26 counties of
the Texas Panhandle. We have 13 regional offices in which we serve the residents
of the 26 counties. Panhandle Transit began operating the rural service in 1981
with 8 station wagons. Panhandle Transit now has 21 program vehicles and 34
agency owned vehicles providing over 166,000 one-way trips and over
1,300,000 passenger miles each year. Our fleet is over 85 % wheelchair capable
and provides local trips and trips into Amarillo. Transportation is available to
the rural counties by calling the nearest PCS center and make a reservation.
